Last updated: September 19, 2026

WARNING: Operating, servicing and maintaining a passenger vehicle or off-road vehicle can expose you to chemicals including engine exhaust, carbon monoxide, phthalates, and lead, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. To minimize exposure, avoid breathing exhaust, do not idle the engine except as necessary, service your vehicle in a well-ventilated area and wear gloves or wash your hands frequently when servicing your vehicle. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov/passenger-vehicle.

About Proposition 65

California’s Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (“Proposition 65”) requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals on the state’s list of chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Many automotive parts, fluids, chemicals and accessories – for example brake parts, batteries, cables and wiring, fuel additives and lubricants – can contain such chemicals.

Product warnings

Where a manufacturer supplies a Proposition 65 warning for a product, it appears on the product, its packaging or its product page. Lead-acid batteries: battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds – wash hands after handling.
