Good visibility is basic safety. Wiper blades and bulbs are inexpensive, quick to change and easy to forget.
Wiper blades
- Conventional (bracket) blades are the traditional frame design.
- Beam blades have no external frame, press evenly along the glass and resist ice and road spray.
- Hybrid blades combine a frame with a beam-style cover.
Replace blades when they streak, chatter, skip or leave unwiped areas. Sun and heat age rubber quickly, so many drivers change them about twice a year. Measure both sides – driver and passenger blades are often different lengths – and check the arm connector type.
Tip: keep the washer reservoir filled with washer fluid, not plain water, and wipe the blade edges with a damp cloth now and then.
Headlight bulbs
- Find your bulb size (for example H11, 9005 or H4) in the owner’s manual or on the old bulb.
- Replace bulbs in pairs so both sides match in brightness and colour.
- Don’t touch the glass of halogen bulbs with bare fingers – skin oils shorten their life.
- Check aim after replacement.
Upgrading to LED
LED replacement bulbs are only street-legal where they are approved for use in your vehicle’s housing. Aftermarket lighting should be DOT-compliant; many products are labelled for off-road use only. Ask us before you upgrade – call the parts counter at (909) 623-3151.
